We’re excited to welcome you to the Bismarck Event Center! To help your visit go smoothly (and keep everyone safe and comfortable), we’ve put together some important guidelines and tips. Below you’ll find the must-know info about facility policies, amenities, accessibility, and event-day procedures.

The Bismarck Event Center’s alcohol vendor reserves the right to require all Bismarck Event Center patrons and guests, regardless of age, to present valid proper ID to purchase alcoholic beverages. The Bismarck Event Center’s alcohol vendor reserves the right to refuse alcoholic beverage service to any person for a non-discriminatory reason.

Alcoholic beverages shall not be allowed on the Bismarck Event Center premises, including the exterior parking lots, unless such alcoholic beverages are sold or distributed under the alcoholic beverage approved concession issued by the Bismarck Event Center.

Service Animals utilized by the disabled or visually impaired are welcome at the Bismarck Event Center. All other animals are prohibited.

There are seven Dakota Community Bank & Trust ATMs located throughout the Arena, two located in the Exhibit Hall lobby and one at the Belle Mehus Auditorium.

Small bags are allowed but are subject to search. For most events, no backpacks or large bags are permitted. Some events may enforce a no-bag policy. Please review event-specific guidelines before attending.

Professional photography is not allowed at the Bismarck Event Center. Some events do not allow any photography, audio or visual recording at all. 

We accept VISA, Mastercard and Discover cards. We do NOT accept American Express cards for payment. 

Directions from I-94:

  • Take Exit 159 and head south on State Street
  • Turn left on to 7th Street (One-Way Street)
  • Turn right on Front Avenue
  • Turn left on 5th Street
  • End at 315 South 5th Street, Bismarck, ND 58504

 

Directions from Bismarck Airport:

  • Turn right onto ND-1804/University Drive
  • Stay straight to go onto 9th Street (One-Way Street)
  • Turn left onto Front Avenue
  • Turn left onto 5th Street
  • End at 315 South 5th Street, Bismarck, ND 58504

There are two public entrances into the Bismarck Event Center.

The A1 entrance is the main entrance for the Arena, Administrative Offices, the Box Office and Tree Rooms.

The E42 entrance is the main entrance for the Exhibit Halls and Prairie Rose Rooms.

Outside food and beverages are not permitted unless prior approval has been granted by Event Center management.

Certain events offer special offers for group ticket sales. Please contact our Box Office at 701-355-1384.

Disorderly conduct, abusive or threatening language, vandalism, theft, unauthorized alcohol consumption, or failure to follow staff instructions may result in removal from the facility.

Left something behind at one of our events? The lost and found is located in the administrative office.

Found something at one of our events? Please turn it in to Bismarck Event Center security before leaving or bring the item to the administrative office.

For most ticketed events, merchandise stands can be found on the arena floor or in the southwest corner of the upper concourse by the food court. 

Our Mother’s Rooms are made possible through a partnership with CHI St. Alexius Health and Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health!

There are two Mother’s Rooms that provide a private area for mothers that are nursing or with small children in need of a quiet environment. These rooms are equipped witha rocking chair and foot rest, a changing table, a faucet and sink, a lamp and books

  • Exhibit Hall Mother’s Room: located in the north east side of Exhibit Hall Lobby.
  • Arena Mother’s Room: located in the west hallway of the Arena. In front of the Oak Room.

There are four parking lots around our venue — Parking Lot B may have a $5 fee, however the parking lots south of Bowen Ave are always free. Accessible parking is available in all of our lots, but spots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Parking lots are intended for event use only. Overnight parking, camping, sleeping in vehicles, or non-event-related use is prohibited.

You and your items are subject to search upon entry to our events. Bismarck Event Center Staff reserves the right to make the final decision on prohibited items. 

Prohibited Items:

  • Aerosol cans or noisemaking devices

  • Animals (unless a service animal)

  • Drones (UAS – Unmanned Aircraft Systems) or other model aircraft

  • Explosives or fuels (torches, lighter fluid)

  • Gifts, letters, signs, banners, flowers, or sealed packages of any kind
    (Commencements and high school tournaments exempt for letters, signs, banners, and flowers)

  • Guns, knives, or weapons
    This includes individuals with concealed carry. Possession of a firearm in a publicly owned building is forbidden by law (N.D.C.C. 62.1-02-05(1)).

  • Hazardous items (chemicals, paints, thinners)

  • Hoverboards and skateboards

  • Laser pointing devices

  • Outside food or beverage, alcohol, bottles, or cans

  • Professional cameras, GoPro cameras, and other video or audio devices

  • Razor-type blades (box cutters, razor blades, scissors)

  • Tools

There is no re-entry into the arena during a ticketed event. If you leave, you will not be readmitted without purchasing a new ticket.

Guests may be required to pass through metal detectors and submit to bag searches at all entrances.

We are a smoke-free facility. Smoking is prohibited inside the building and within 20 feet of all entrances, exits, air intakes and operable windows. There are designated smoking areas in various outside locations around our facility.

Strollers are welcome inside our facility for young children and infants but are subject to search. Strollers are not allowed for any ticketed events.

Individuals are allowed to gather signatures, display hand-held signs, pass out fliers, and engage in other expressive activities protected by the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, so long as the passage of Event Center patrons to and from the facility is not impeded and these activities are conducted outside only.

A petitioner must not act in such a manner so as to hinder ingress or egress to the Event Center or to in any way intimidate, confront, or accost an Event Center patron entering or exiting the building. A petitioner shall not call out or shout to draw attention to the petitioner. All activity shall be conducted in a normal tone of voice, and the use of identifiable signage is encouraged. Petitioners must limit literature distribution and petition circulation to defined locations to control the flow of the crowds and to provide a safe and orderly environment for Event Center patrons 

Any petitioner utilizing a table and/or chair, which must be furnished by petitioner, shall be set up in the area on the Northwest corner of Parking Lot D at the intersection of Bowen Avenue and Fifth Street, so as to not hinder ingress or egress to the building from any direction. This allows direct access to Event Center patrons without blocking or impeding patron traffic flow. 

Any standing petitioner (without the use of a table and/or chair) is free to move about the outside grounds. However, a petitioner must not solicit in an area that hinders ingress or egress to the building from any direction, which includes that they will not be closer than 100 feet from any facility entrance nor will they be in the parking lot area where cars can drive. Distribution of literature, petition-gathering informational protests and/or demonstrations are not permitted inside a leased area or building. These spaces are under contract with the client and therefore are no longer considered public spaces. 

Anyone violating this policy will first be warned by an Event Center staff member. If the conduct continues, the petitioner will be required to leave the Event Center grounds. Petitioners must comply with all other applicable ordinances, laws, and regulations. The presence of petitioners does not constitute an endorsement from the Event Center of the opinions or points of view expressed or espoused by the petitioners, and petitioners will not suggest such is the case.
